ICIZ Professional Certifications Requirements

 

1.   Applicants  for  the  Certified   Internal  Control  Specialists   (CICS)  designation  are  those professionals who have:

 

•  At least three years internal control design and/or internal control assessment experience or the equivalent and a four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

•  Masters in Accounting, Business Management, Industrial Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college and two year’s practical work experience in internal control, Doctorate in these disciplines and one year of experience or

•  Five years of internal control work experience without a degree

 

Each must

 

•  Successfully complete the CICS examination

•  Additionally, candidates with a degree may apply without the work experience and after successfully passing the examination be granted a provisional certificate. After attaining the required work experience indicated above, an official CICS certificate will be issued by the Internal Control Institute.

 

 

2.   Applicants  for  the  Certified  Internal  Control  Professional  (CICP)  designation  are  those professionals who have:

 

•  At least eight years internal control design and/or internal control assessment experience and the equivalent and a four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university or

•  Masters in Accounting, Business Management, Industrial Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college and seven years practical work experience in internal control or doctorate with four years practical work experience or

•  Twelve years of internal control work experience or

•  Previously  attained  the  CICS  certification  and  have  attained  a  total  of  eight  years professional internal control work experience.
